ST. MAARTEN, DUTCH WEST INDIES – Oyster Bay Beach Resort announced Friday that Ricardo Perez will assume the position of General Manager of the Resort, replacing long term GM Jan Borsje. The upscale, mixed-use resort, which recently added full and fractional-ownership luxury condominiums in 2009 and started a significant room renovation this spring, has positioned itself as a major contender on the St. Maarten resort scene.
Perez plans to capitalize on Borsje’s success. During his 17-year tenure, Borsje brought the resort from a small 40-room hotel to its current status as a well known and well-respected, multi-use resort.
“I want to increase the resort’s already great level of hospitality and further enhance the guest experience,” Perez said, during his first week at Oyster Bay.
Josh Gold and Mike Dolente, owners of the resort’s developer Pearl Development, hired Perez to usher the resort and its multi-use properties into a new era. They feel his energy, enthusiasm and experience will help boost the resort and its dedicated staff to a higher level of achievement in the more competitive hospitality industry.
Prior to accepting his position at Oyster Bay, Perez served as Chief Financial Officer of the world-renowned, five-star Cap Juluca Resort on Anguilla where he was involved in the resort’s day to day operations. With more than twenty years of hospitality experience, much of that in executive-level positions, Perez has the ideal combination of expertise and talent to increase the resort’s service to five-star quality.
“It is an honor for me to join the team at Oyster Bay Beach Resort,” said Perez. “It has such a great reputation as one of the top timeshare resorts in St. Maarten and the region, and I plan to contribute by introducing modern management techniques more focused on the individual employee and the contributions they make to the quality of the resort.”
Gold and Dolente both expressed their gratitude to Borsje for his long years of service and the great contribution he has made. They’re pleased that Borsje will stay on as Senior Advisor and Consultant.
They also said they look forward to the increased quality in hospitality that Mr. Perez will bring to the resort as well as the improved atmosphere the great new look and quality improvements will create for the guests.
