St. Maarten – General Manager of the Oyster Bay Beach Resort Ricardo Perez will be one of the keynote speakers for the Caribbean’s longest standing and most successful investment tourism conference in April. Perez revealed on Thursday that he had been asked to speak on the topic The Managing Director’s Check In at the 2012 Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC) at the Sheraton Resort in Puerto Rico from April 22 – 26, 2012.
“Operating and managing the business interests of resort developers in the Caribbean can often entail oversight of multiple businesses ranging from hotels and real estate to spa and casino operations. The session will address today’s challenges and opportunities as well as highlight how panelists have been able to position their resorts for long term success,” Perez said.
This is the first time that the resort executive will be featured at the CHTIC and he expects experts to “reveal strategies that have been proven successful as well as how resorts are positioning themselves to ensure the highest returns.”
Nearly four hundred delegates from the Caribbean, North America and the United Kingdom attend the CHTIC annually. This year will mark the sixteenth anniversary of the unique conference which offers numerous networking opportunities for resort developers, hotel chain executives, lawyers, bankers, government officials and real estate agents among others.
As a Premier affiliate of Interval International, one of the main sponsors of the event, the Oyster Bay Beach Resort hopes to leave an indelible impression on conference delegates via Perez. He will be travelling alone but Today Newspaper understands that the St. Maarten tourism industry will also be represented by May-Ling Chun, Director of St. Maarten Tourist Bureau, who will also be making a presentation. Speaking on hugely successful time share ownership properties, Perez will be on the lookout for “how their model could be adapted to St. Maarten and to Oyster Bay Beach Resort to continue our eternal quest for improvement and guest satisfaction.”
Other conference highlights include speed networking sessions, sponsors exhibition and the presentation of a life time achievement award. Opportunities in the Caribbean tourism industry through public and private sector partnerships, real estate and hospitality, strategies and options to deal with troubled assets, an investor’s perspective and the power of branding will be among the list of topics to be explored at the event.
Perez joined the staff of Oyster Bay Beach Resort in 2010 after serving as the chief financial officer of the world renowned, five star Cap Juluca Resort on Anguilla. He will be bringing more than twenty years of hospitality experience to this year’s CHTIC.
